Guy Budd and the Gypsy Souls are one of the
premier acts on the California Central Coast. Their blend of blues, rock, funk,
and jazz is highlighted by the masterful guitar work of Budd and his smoky
vocals. The band plays an eclectic mix of original compositions, as well
as covers from many of the great blues and jazz artists of the last 50 years.
Their live shows and three CDs have been well touted, whether playing
local clubs and festivals in San Luis Obispo county, or their many other
featured venues throughout California.Guy forged his original music while hitting the road with some of the best musicians in the country starting in the late 1960's and 1970's, and then through his own incarnations of the Guy Budd Band the last 15+ years. During that time, he has shared the stage with B.B. King, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Johnny Winter, Charlie Musselwhite and many other great artists.
His current band, "The Gypsy Souls", has been together for several years, featuring local musicians Howard Emmons (drummer and owner of the Drum Circuit), bassist Wil Anderson, and keyboardist Ken Burton. Each has had their own successful music career, and together have over 60 years of playing experience with various artists and bands. All this adds up to one "super tight" unit, perfect for backing Guy's well-respected artistry.
